Community in Crisis

Community in Crisis operates a pop-up recovery site at

Saint Paul’s on the first Thursday of the month, 3-7 PM.

Community in Crisis (CiC) is a 501(c)(3) coalition embedded in the Somerset Hills section of Somerset County. The organization was formed in late 2013 in response to a sudden tragic surge in opioid addiction and overdose deaths locally. CiC focuses on substance use prevention, education, and recovery support. CiC has achieved much in a short time, fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, a highly committed volunteer base, and local community support. Compassion for others is our mantra, and passion for the cause is our drive.

Recovery support efforts were increased and accelerated in January 2020 with the addition of Ken Musgrove as Director of Recovery Support. Quickly facing the changing landscape of program delivery during Covid, Ken has increased the frequency and capacity of recovery supportive programming. In May 2022 CiC was the fortunate recipient of the Community Peer Recovery Center Grant for Somerset County through DMHAS funding. The grant has allowed CiC to hire additional staff to deliver recovery support services to the entire county.

Assisted by dedicated volunteers and interns, Community in Connection, CiC’s branch focused on recovery support services, has embraced the challenge of bringing compassionate, individualized resources to Somerset County. Through a program called a Peer Recovery Pop Up CiC is bringing recovery support services directly to the community, including right here at St. Paul’s on the 1st Thursday of the month 3-7pm. At the Pop Up one can expect CiC’s friendly peer recovery team who will offer one on one support services, connection to employment, education, housing resources, an All Recovery meeting and so much more. Free of charge, the team is available to assist not only the person in or seeking recovery but family members and allies as well.  For more information contact Ken Musgrove, kmusgrove@communityincrisis.org, 908.801.4243.
