Thank you for visiting our website!

Welcome to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bound Brook, we are a diverse and loving group of Episcopalians from around the corner, and around the world. Some of us come from as faraway as Nigeria, India, Jamaica and even a few come from Brooklyn. But most of us are from Middlesex, Somerset and Hunterdon counties.

We are a congregation committed to reaching out to others in this bruised and battered world in the spirit of Jesus Christ. As Christ touched others and allowed others to touch him so we are called forth beyond our church doors. We reach out not as a duty but in the spirit of joy and thankfulness for all that we have been given. We have been greatly blessed and strive to be a blessing to others.

At the parish level, we have a weekly program of feeding others called Lunch On Us that has been part of our congregational life for over twenty five years. Our worship on Sundays is at 8AM in the Rite I traditional style from the Book of Common Prayer. The 10AM service is in the Rite II style. We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Come visit and See!

Thought for the Week – April 17, 2019

Tenebrae – The Service of Shadows

For centuries, Christians around the world have celebrated a service of shadows during Holy Week called Tenebrae, a Latin word meaning “darkness.”  Throughout the service, scripture is read, prayers are said, and candles are gradually extinguished.  Only one candle remains lit at the end of the service – symbolic of Christ.  The lit candle is then carried from the church, extinguished, and hidden as a reminder of Christ’s death.  The candle is then “resurrected” like Jesus and appears again, lit, in the church on Easter Sunday.  This practice reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world – a light that nothing can extinguish, not even death.

Announcements:

Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church will welcome two new Christians to our faith family on Easter Sunday.  Kate and Ryan will be baptized during the 10 AM Eucharist this Sunday.  Please keep them and their families in prayer as they prepare for this joyous event.

A special Easter Egg Hunt will take place after the 10 AM Eucharist this Sunday, sponsored by Saint Paul’s EYC.

Mercy and George Kuriyan will be moving to Hawaii in June after many decades worshiping and ministering with the faithful people of Saint Paul’s.  A special luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, at 11:30 AM.  Please speak with Mercy or send her an email (kuriyame@gmail.com) to RSVP.

Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church is excited to host a service project for 6th-12th graders from Episcopal Churches around the area.  We will gather in Rennell Hall on Saturday, April 27, from 4:00 to 5:30 to wrap cutlery for a local soup kitchen.  Please speak with Reverend Foley if you or someone in your family is interested in participating.

Please keep your eyes open for information about the Spring Rummage Sale, scheduled for Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3.  Volunteers are needed to help set up, sell items, and clean up.  Sign-up sheets are located in the narthex and Rennell Hall.  Donations will be collected beginning April 28.

Lunch on Us, a cherished ministry of Saint Paul’s, offers a free meal to our neighborhood guests on Sundays at 12 Noon.  Hosts/Chefs are needed to round out the schedule.  Please note that Lunch on Us will not be offered on April 21 (Easter Sunday).  To become a host, please see Meg Rothberg, Irene Parker, or Reverend Foley.
